90-Year-Old Delivers Baby!?!

By Julie Sander

May 8th, 2009

While browsing through news sites online, I came across a story about a 90-year-old woman in the UK who delivered her great-grandchild.

After returning from a walk, her 32-year-old granddaughter went into labor. Margaret Jones, who worked as a midwife in the ‘50s and has since had both hips replaced, was called for help and delivered her great-granddaughter.

I find it extremely heartwarming that this 90-year-old woman was not only able to deliver a baby, something she hadn’t done for over 50 years, and also be so involved with the birth of her great-grandchild. Not many people can say they were brought into the world by a 90-year-old woman.
